Another RMN Protest – 8/29/01

Many of you have already heard about Rick Stanley's previous protest of the Rocky Mountain News (at the Adams Mark Hotel in Denver a couple of weeks ago). We are trying to contact as many Libertarians as possible by phone and email to let them know the details of the second organized protest.

We will be "picketing" at the RMN building in downtown Denver (400 W. Colfax) on Wednesday, August 29 - that's next week - from 3 pm to 6 pm. If you can only attend for an hour or even half an hour, please come for as long as you can. We are hoping to get as many folks as possible to show the News that Rick's campaign has a lot of support. If you have any further questions, please call the LP office at 720-941-2344. Thanks for all your help!

And here is a letter Rick sent to the Rocky Mountain News' News Editor today:

Greetings and salutations. I trust all is well in the Government-controlled Fascist/Socialist Republic of the Rocky Mountain Rag.

Per our correspondence of our ongoing second campaign to humble your rag and bring you into compliance with the general public's expectations that you will provide fair and impartial coverage of the US Senate Campaign in Colorado, this press release is to notify you that the Libertarian Party and the Stanley for Senate campaign will be protesting and campaigning in front of the Rocky Rag at 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2001. This is the second protest in a series of protests scheduled for the next 15 months until the November 5, 2002 election. Your grand old fraud continues.

Perhaps you heard the dozen or so radio stations that picked up on our campaign and discussed the Rocky Rag's bad form in lying about the campaign as well as your ongoing lack of coverage for third parties. These actions, in effect make it extremely difficult for the citizens of our fair state to find out about their political options which affect their daily lives in "oh, so many ways."

Perhaps you saw the reprint of our original second campaign letter to the Rocky Rag in the most recent edition of the Colorado Statesman. I understand that other media outlets including one national outlet, National Public Radio, have been reporting the issues regarding our wonderful ongoing protest of the Rocky Rag.

I suppose we will just have to watch and learn. The thing I really love about all of this, is how uplifting it is to know that so many people are hearing about this and offering their support and best wishes in our campaign to publicize the biased political coverage you provide your readers in the Rocky Rag.

"As always, Rick Stanley, US Senate Candidate, Libertarian Party

"PS Could you send me a copy of the organizations that monitor Journalistic Ethics and Standards?"
